Won't turn over

I have removed all of the front clip except the radiator and radiator bracket.
i did all of this under the car port, now i want to move the truck into the garage. Put the battery back in it, and everything seems fine except the starter won't turn. What is the bare minimum i need to start the truck? The voltage regulator, resistor and relay are all hanging, do they need to be bolted up the ground them maybe? I'm really at a loss on this one...let me know what you think.

Oh yeah it's a 78 300...sorry

Duke

Make sure your relay has a ground source so it will make. You could try jumping the relay if you need.

Now just so i know, the relay is the round thing next to the voltage regulator right? And do you mean ground the frame of the relay?

Not sure without seeing. Should have two larger post with one wire running directly to the starter.

You were right, and when i did that it turned but not start. Acted like it wasn't getting spark...then i noticed the ignition module was not connected, it was on the shelf in the garage. Hooked up and bang...fired right up. Thanks for the help, i am learning a bunch about this stuff...

Good deal, Don't ask why, but I feel I should remind you that the fan blade is still turning even though the front clip is missing. It can and will chew up anything that gets in its way and could damage your radiator.
