I had a dealer replace the pass/rear bearings for me 'cause I knew they were bad. I also wanted them to fix a noise from the driver/front that got loud when making right turns so they replaced the bearing hub. The noise hasn't gone away. Like I said, the noise shows up when making right turns, is more noticeable at higher speeds, less noticeable when driving straight, and can hear it disappear and reappear when I'm on a bumpy road. The thing that puzzles me is that this noise didn't go away when they replaced the bearings on the driver/front which is where I swear its coming from. Any suggestions? Thanks.
The day after I got my truck back from having the bearings replaced I had new tires mounted and balanced(no alignment yet) and replaced the rear pads. The noise did not go away after I took these steps. How much would a ball joint fix go for?
If I undersdtand correctly you had the rear bearing on one side only replaced? If they did not remove the disk assembly from the other side I would suspect the emergency brake shoe on the untouched side as your source of noise. I swear that when I hear a noise and think it is from the front that it originates from the rear and vice versa.
What does the noise sound like? Is it a squeal, rattle, clunk and etc.
Sometimes the emergency brake shoes come apart and just rattles inside the rotors on the rear wheels. I've had it happen already, those shoe are barely held together.
DKF, the noise is a rumbling. Most noticeable at speeds above 30mph and whenever there's more weight on the left side. I swear its coming from under my feet while driving. I should have my wife drive while I sit in different spots. This is so annoying.
