should i pull the trigger?

Well i have been looking into modding my 02 f250 a bit and was wondering if i should do it. Heres the items im thinking about -
guages from diesel manor the pre assembled type,
the 6637 air filter,
dp tuner w/stock, 60 tow, 80 econ, 120 race and high idle or the ts chip off of diesel manor with close to the same settings.
With the 38's im running i also need to recalibrate my speedo so im thinking super lift calibrator
Lastly i figured when im towing out on I5 this summer its going to be hot and was thinking about a truck idle after off deal. this to be exact https://www.xtremediesel.com/index.a...ROD&ProdID=848

oh yeah it will be getting regear'd soon

well i know the list can become a lot bigger but im thinking this is a good list to start and check off.
Now here is my dilemna, I broke my femur a little over a week ago and now have a titainum rod running the length of it and can barely get around. so i have a truck with a 10" lift and 38" and i cant even get into it . but would it be worth it to get these products have some of them installed by my mechanic and then when im able to move around get some done by myself? and pretty much get things rolling. Or just order later so i do not have to stare at a box of new parts while my leg heals. what do you guys think?

dang i cant wait to be back. Thanks.

I wouldn't pay someone to do those mods. Two are easy and should take less than an hour to do both. (6637 and DP tuner) The gauge install is pretty straight forward but will take at least 4 hours to do. It took me almost 8 hours taking my time. I wouldn't want to pay $80-$90 for someone to do those things. If you can't wait, don't buy them until you or a good buddy can put them in for you. Thats my $.02.

Sorry to hear about, and good luck, with the leg.

You want to add an exhaust to your list as well. I don't think that I saw that in there.

thanks for the replies, yeah i really don't want to pay someone to do the gauges for me but i figured that if they are done, when i am able to crawl around the truck, i can put the chip in and go play around for the first time in however many weeks. i saw an install video on the dp tuner so im not worried about that. How about the delayed shut off device? any opinions on that? i was told that when the cold air rushes back into a hot engine it will crack the turbo and motor which would be pretty $$$. I already have a 4" straight through turbo back exhaust so i can check that off my list. Thanks i can't wait to get started!

I don't believe that is an accurate statement. The turbo gets heat from the exhaust gasses so cold air will not hurt it. The whole idea of the inter-cooler is to cool the intake charge. Cool air is more dense and therefore more oxygen rich. The thing that you want the timer for is to allow the turbo bearing to cool off after long runs where you were working the engine pretty hard ie: towing or running alot of boost for long periods of time.

Jason, the idea of letting the turbo cool down is the fact that the turbine is cast iron, which holds heat really well. The exhaust temp you want to cool down to is usually 350* ish, correct? The flashpoint of most oils is 420-445* F, and cooling the temperatures down below that usually gets rid of most of the heat soaking that will "coke" the oil onto the turbo bearings and the shaft, which happens gradually over repeated hot shutdowns where the oil is baked in the turbo when the surrounding cast iron is more than the flashpoint.

OP- How did you break your femur? Dirtbike or four wheeler accident?

Thanks for helping me understand that.

I broke my femur snowboarding actually. It was just after a huge dump they got in Utah and it was over all the ice so i was tree riding a bit. somehow slipped on an ice patch or wasn't able to make my turn and was not able to get around the tree in time so yeah took me right in half. unfortunately i also get to stare at a cleaned up dirt bike also. I was supposed to go dirtbiking when i got back from utah. hopefully i'll be able to move around better in the next week or so then i can start working on my truck. but i know i have to take it easy or else.
