front axle question
hey guys, quick question for y'all. i've got my old 81 f-150 4x4 w/ stock axles on it. of course she's got the TIB front and a 9" rear end. the axle code is 14 and i was told that means i've got a 3:1 ratio. last week i tried to roach my tires for the first time since i bought the truck and low and behold, i thro the rear diff...the p. o. used her to haul hogs, wish he would've haul one more load so it crapped out on him instead of me...but anyway, i'm gonna fix it w/ stock parts, but i'm looking into going w/ deeper gear sets when i get the cash to put on bigger tires. i'm planning on running 35" tires and want to go w/ 3.73 gears. BUT i don't really like the idea of that TIB front axle.
my questions is this: does somebody make a solid front axle (5 bolt half ton) that will match my rear?
