97 explorer , not sure if the truck came factory with a tow package or what but it has a round i think 6pin connector, i wanted to plug one of those brake lite hitch recievers in and the truck came with a conversion plug that converts it to the flat 4pin wire harness, anyway i plugged in the lited hitch reciever and it does nothing, is there any fuses i can check to see hwat the problem is??
I would start by getting a test light, something with a ground clip and a fairly sharp point on the test end. Then turn on the signals and check for power with the tester.
There are several fuses, some under the hood, some inside. It would be very helpful if you had a list of what circuits the fuses control. This is sometimes in your users manual, and sometimes on the fuse panel cover.
A quick test is to ground your testor and check each end of the fuses with the proble. Fuses are made with the ends exposed enough to test them in place. If a fuse is hot at one end and not the other, it is bad. Some fuses are not always hot, so you may have to turn on the ignition and other accessories to test them in place.
