I tried rebuilding my carburetor but it still won't work properly.. the vin on the door says it's a 1971 but there were some parts that didn't fit the 71 descriptions so i looked at the vins inside the engine compartment and it says it's a late 68 model... could this be part of the problem or are the carbs the same from those years.. anyone in or near valdosta ga that could posibly help me rebuild it again.... please pm me at brennerfam@gmail.com with any helpful hints....
The setups between those years ought to be similar enough to get the rebuilt carb very close to right.
I'm with cornfedp, you ought to verify that your fuel lines are good and all the filters are clean, maybe even put a gauge on the fuel pump outlet and verify that it's putting out the spec. pressure, floating rust flakes in the gas tank can do 'interesting' things to fuel supply too
What is it NOT doing right? Idling? running? accelerating?
The 2bbls on these trucks are pretty much all the same parts wise(though different cfm rated for different size motors).

The same FoMoCo carburetor kit fits all Auto-Lite & Motorcraft 2 barrel carbs: 1962 thru 1974.
thank you for your help guys all i needed was four hands not two. that extra set of hands was abble to get her tuned in and she ran just fine now i'm just de-rusting fuel tank and waiting for my oem fuel lines to come in the mail then i'll put her all back together and give her a full tune up with cap and roter, coil pack, wire set, plugs, and just in case all the rust that was in my tank and lines ruined it a new fuel pump. again thank you all for your help.
