I am a Ford man tried and true, let there be no mistake about it. Here is my story, it has been bothering me for a while. My friend drives an 86 Red Chevy stepside, all rebuilt with 14 bolt in the rear, 16 inch suspension lift, 35 bfg mud terrains. He has a 350 in it bored 30 over, hooked up to a 350 tranny with a shift kit. Claims his "beast" pushes 350 plus horsepower. The truck runs and shakes horribly, has broken frames, leaks from his front axle, but everyone loves it, hey, it looks nice.
Now I come into the picture, the same time he got his truck I got my dads old Ford blue 85 F-250. A stock pickup with no lift, sits maybe an inch lower than his Chevy. Running 33 inch Cooper discoverers, t18, fullfloating dana 60 rear ttb front axle. But heres the question that is bothering me, I have a 351w rebuilt and bored 30 over, plus i have an exhaust on it. How much power is my truck putting out, and is this kid full of crap with his 350 putting out 350? Please answer so I can sleep at night!
i would say he is likely full of crap if he thinks his 350 is pulling 350 horses. i would also almost be sure he isnt takling about rear wheel horses either. he might have close to that at the flywheel, but nowhere near the rear wheels. i suggest you get on the internet and/or check with some speed shops to find out when or where there is a chassis dino in your area. then take his sorry butt over there and show him he really has under 200! :P in the mean time, race him or something stupid like that if you want to know who has the *****. the last chevy we ever owned was a truck of that body style that is probably sitting in a scrap yard rusting in half. it was such a rust bomb that it would literally drop chuncks of the body when you shut the doors too hard. and who can forget the rust-stained driveway every time it rains! chevy sucks
