Idle to high
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Oct-02 AT 11:29 AM (EST)]I hooked up a digital fluke meter, and found out the 302 in my '79 F-150 is running from 1000-1100 rpms when it's warmed up. The curb idle screw is backed off all the way, and the engine is in perfect time. I can force the throttle arm back to drop it to 800 rpms. I'm thinking the return springs, they look warn. Anybody else have some suggestions to lower the idle?

Look inside the carb. I better the flys are sticking. You can try a stronger spring but that will make the pressure you have to put on the pedal greater. You could also try reseting the throttle flys. Which I would do off of the engine.
