Murphy showed up tonight ...
But ... and wouldn't you know it was coming ... Murphy showed his ugly mug around my place this evening. Y'all know him; Mr. Anything-That-Can-Go-Wrong-Will-Go-Wrong-No-Matter-How-Well-You-Plan-Ahead ... yeah, THAT Murphy.
And what did Mr. Murphy bring me? Bad news, that's what!
MY GARAGE IS TOO SHORT FOR MY TRUCK!!!
Or maybe the truck is too long for the garage ... I guess it's a question of if I see the glass as half-full or half-empty at this point!
Either way, there's NO way I could possibly have room to do any body work inside, let alone paint the silly thing ... I guess I'll have to borrow Mom's portable canopy to shade my work and just do it all outside. Not my idea of a good way to do it, but when life hands you lemons ... well, you know.
The really strange part is that my house was built in late 1978, when there were still a great many cars on the road that were only somewhat smaller than an aircraft carrier; so I wonder WHY this garage is so darn short!

* I'm having outpatient oral surgery on Monday to remove what's left of my bottom teeth. No, it won't be pleasant, but it's long overdue and will be welcome relief as I have been fighting to save them for years, only to hold off the inevitable, just as I did five years ago with my upper teeth. It'll just take me a few days to recover and then I'll be good as new. Toothless, yes, but good as new!
I'm going to be smarter this time about having the lower denture made, I'm going to wait several months so they can get a better idea of how my mouth will be shaped once the swelling completely goes away. I had the upper plate made too quickly after surgery and they have NEVER fit correctly, as it was six to eight MONTHS before all of that swelling was gone. They're beautiful, but they just don't work. Of course, the jackleg morons who made the plate to begin with had a lot to do with that, because they didn't know how to get a good impression and screwed it up ... TWICE!
I'll be going to a much more reputable outfit to have that plate fixed, and if they get those right, they'll be my choice for manufacturing my lower set, which I hope to have made with the implanted snaps that hold them firmly in my mouth. I think that will be the best choice.
I go in April 8 to have the last 5 of remaining uppers out. Thank God my lowers are in good shape.
I am going to the Case Dental School Clinic in Cleveland where everything is about half price compared to a regular dentist, and actually the work is better. They are up with the latest and the greatest and the student dentists are very closely supervised by some of the top private practice dentists in the area.
It takes time going to them, but I'm retired so I have the time. And they take more than four times the time a normal dentist does with you.
They pulled the rears first, leaving only 5 in front, so They have an almost perfect upper temporary plate ready to drop in after the surgery. I then get my permanent a few months later.
I'm also in the same boat as you with the garage, cept my problem is so many tools and machines, no room for the truck.
