keyless entry question??
i got a 97 explorer, i dont have the wallet card that it says in the manual to get the factory code for the door, is there another place that has the code? like i know on alot of the ford cars they keep it on the underside of the trunk lid, also how do you set a factory transmitter?

thanks, that helped for my keypad on the door but not for the programming a remote, ive herd you do the 8 turns of the key then hold a button on the remote down, i tried that with no luck, this truck came with a remote but the guy said he never used it and thought it needed new batteries, i put 2 new batts in and nothing, the back of the transmitter says transmitter 2?? does this mean anything?? can someone give me the run down on how to properly set a remote for a 97?? cause if i turn the key 8 times the doors lock and unlock is it suppose to do this??

I have a 97....Turn the key on and off (No Starting) about 6 times ending with ON(it won't hurt anything if you do too many), the door locks will lock/unlock, press a key on the remote, turn key off. Press button on remote, should be good to go. If this is to program a 2nd remote make sure the first, operable remote is in the car with you.

i just tried it still nothing!! is it possible i got the wrong batteries?? the manual just said a 3v, no particular one, pepboys only had 1 3v that said it was for alarm remotes but they do seem really thin??

Did the doors locks jump up/down when you tried it? If so, you did the "key thing" correctly. Am looking at the batteries from my key fob now....Duracell DL2016 3volt, 2 required. Very thin batteries.
Is the fob from Ford or aftermarket? Don't know if it would make a difference.
