Hi all,
Were there any problems with the '99 7.3 PSD? I know this was the first year of the redesign, just wondering if there were any problems with the engine and the ZF-6 manual transmission.
Thanks,
Jack
none at all as far as being reliable...trucks built before 12/7/98 have smaller turbo,HPOP and injectors as well as a few other things..after 12/7/98 to 03 there prety much the same...mine was built 3/98...but its getting to be a 99.5 slowly..print this link and take it with you..if it all checks out..you should be good to go.. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...questions.html
The Zf6 transmission is bullet proof, Main issue I have had with mine is the disk brake calipers on the rear axle freezing up. I switched to a new supplier that is offering lifetime warranty on them and haven't had one fail since.
The OEM calipers seem to be a problem for everyone. But since going to aftermarket I've had no more issues. I got real tired of eating rotors. Them things is heavy.
