E40d problem

For the past 2 two weeks when acc. hard from stop a clunk is felt(not every time) thought to be a suspension problem. trying to locate the problem untill 2 days ago when the truck was parked for a few hours i went to start it and another clunk was heard ,( not like a starter selinoid), turned the key again and it started rights up. during the same trip i went to pass another vehical and instead of down shifting the RPMs raised and then slammed in to gear. when i stopped at the next light the truck would not idle forward on its own, like it would normally in 1st or rev., when you gradually give it gas it will then slam in to gear( not violently). but the other gears seem to shift fine. any ideas? after talking w/ my dad other friend we think it might be a shift selinoid. the trans fluid looks and smells fine. thanks in advance for any help.

It isn't a shift solenoid. There is no way a shift solenoid can do any of these things.

It could be low on fluid, it could have a leaking seal, a worn pump, or a burned clutch, or even a bad pressure control solenoid, but I can't see how a shift solenoid could do this.
