But I am shure of it that all those ponys where 10x harder to break than a quarter horse.
Little man's syndrome. I have a mini horse that I make a killing round here doing kids' b-day parties(just in the 3 sub-divisions that are right round me alone). He is a pain(still a stud) and you have to constantly watch him, but he makes enough money for me and he is good enough behaviorly that I tolerate it. Bout the only thing that I use him for anyway other then breeding other minis so I shouldn't expect too much.
Agree with 2008drkstone. My 2005 KR, F-350 had no chip. Cheap Lowe's keys worked. I went to Lowes with key for third key on my 2008, and key person said no. I said make it. Bot two keys in fact. Wrong again was I! The "non chip" key will open the doors, but not start the engine on my 2008 F-350 KR.
As I didn't want to spend nearly $100.00 or whatever the key costs, I came up with a brilliant idea (brilliant in my mind). I bot two magnetic boxes. I put one box under the truck with the non chip key. The second chip key that came with my truck went into the second mag box and I placed that inside the truck. So that way I can get into the truck and then use the second key.
Now, as I type this I am thinking, where the hell did I put the two magnetic boxes. My bet is that I wrote it down somewhere.
if you take the chip out of a key or simply use the complete chipped key and attach it some where very near or inside the column,,, maybe a standard cut key with no chip will start the Truck? I'm not sure if the chip needs to be directly inside the ignition, but it would be interesting to test if someone here with a chipped and no chip key would test this.

I ordered my 08 XLT with the chipped key security. The key has a quarter size concavity in the plastic part on one side, and the same concavity with a Ford logo on the other side.
What is this?! Torture tex25025 day? All seriousness though that does look like the chip keys that I have seen. I don't see why they couldn't have done that emblem on a smaller key, but I could be wrong(it won't be the first time).
I aaaallllllmost took the picture from the other side with the ford emblem on it, then thought of tex25025, yea I knew they could have put it on the smaller key....lol
The 99-07 Ford Super Duty trucks do not have the PATS system. Doesn't matter if it's XL, XLT, Harley or King Ranch, it doesn't have it. The keys for the Harley Davidson Super Duties used the same mold as the key for the Harley Edition F150, so they are thicker, but they don't have the chip inside them. I will send anyone here $5 if they can't get a normal Super Duty key cut for their truck to work in their ignition.
PATS system is available in the 08 up Super Duty and in the Excursion, so my claim doesn't apply to them.
I didn't think it had a chip but I went to a hardware store today to get a key made, the store employee looked it up in a book and pronounced mine to be chipped and said she could not make one. I'll try some where else tomorrow. If it is chipped it must be pretty small as black platic key head is barely bigger than key itself. Worst case I'll end up with a spare door-gate key
If your key is chipped and you have to have ford program a new cut key ($85), then it is worth another 20 bucks for a second key spare key. Keep the spare in a safe place and if you ever loose your first key then it is only 20 bucks to make a copy of your first spare and repeat the above mentioned. Pete
I have a 06 F350 SD (Lariat) diesel that got stolen last month (11/2016). They broke the rear sliding glass then they popped off the ignition key cap and jammed a screwdriver in it. It had a pair of vise-grips attached to the screwdriver. How do I know this, because the truck was found the next day with their tools in the truck and the screwdriver in the door pocket. There was drugs (meth) on the front seat, they were not done with my truck yet. They didn't steal much but scratched the **** out of it. 9k in damages. I'll get it back painted and running before Christmas.
Did gas F250 sd's (xlt, no special edition) have chips in 2003? Key is stuck & now I have a no start condition, won't even crank so figured I should change the ignition out first. Pepboys asked if I had chipped or non-chipped, couldn't give them an answer. You'd think they could look it up by VIN but nope.
