dont confuse chatter with clatter, chatter is rough engagements, and clatter is what you are hearing in nuetral. some trucks do it worse than other's. some dont do it at all. the DMF is quiter, but unreliable in performance applications. It does however reduce engine spikes to the driveline therefore reducing gear clatter. If you gear clatter is undesirable, then i would look into a fluid dampner for your application.
THanks Valair1. I was going to clarify for myself. Mine is definitely the clatter in neutral. I know you mentioned before which fluid dampner to use, but I don't recall. Could you post it again please?
Thanks
Appologies! I should have made it more clear. It's NOT the clutch that's noisy. It the tranny itself. I knew that going in. I wouldn't go back if I were paid to. I would advise anyone thinking about it to just do it. The clutch feel and lack of violent shaking is worth every penny I paid.
i head the mercury filled ones were the best, and fluid damnper is the brand name i have heard the most on. i know not only do they reduce the clatter, but make your truck run smoother as well.
