exhast question

Since my 98 f-250ld, (4.6) has duel cats on each side, has anybody removed one of the cats, and if so which one and have you seen any noticeable power/mileage increase?

With a 195 thermostat about where on your temp gauge does the needle stay? Thanks, blue

You probably wont notice hardly any power gains from removing the cats, unless they are clogged(unlikely).
As far as the temp gauge mine will stay right in the middle.

If you decide to remove any cats remove the upstream ones (the ones that are just after the exhaust manifolds) there is no o2 sensor after these cats so you shouldnt notice any negative effects, in my opinion it will sound better probably wont notice any performance gains though, make sure you keep the other cats though unless you can find an MIL Eliminator, and good luck ecause they outlawed them, otherwise more than likely you will be throwin codes, i currently have all 4 cats with no muffler just dumped after y pipe and it sounds great, however next saturday im gettin the first cats cut off (just like i told you) and then running tru duals out the back with no mufflers and only the 1 set of cats, PM me after then and i can tell you what to expect

The problem i have is, this is a ex forest service truck, and as such has every single sniffer they could put on it, including a pre cat sensor. I might have to just let it be for now. Post what you find out after your changes so we can see. blue
