tire size?

hello,
i got a 2003 f150 4wd with factory 18" rims. I was wondering if anyone knows what is the largest tire size you can put on this truck, before you have to do any modifications.

you really need to search, i see your new to the forum, welcome fte is a great place with lots of great info, most of the info is already here tho if you just look, i mean cmon just check out the faq thing at the top, where it says read first, try reading first, btw generally the bigges tire you can fit is a 285/75/16 or 285/70/17 or the equivnt size with the 18" rim, id imagine sumthing like 285/65 or or 285/70 you can look that up though, nitto is really the only brand tha makes thae 295 size tire but if they do fit nicely, you can run 305s if you crank your torsion bars and do minor trimming and can deal with very minimal rubbing at full lock

Are new users allowed to use the search? I don't remember. Some boards won't allow new users to search.

Rep points are different. See the set of scales in the upper right hand corner of every post? That is the rep point link. Basically you can rate the person who gave you information. Positive rep for helpful hints or information, and negative rep for being an A-hole, or whatever...

Anyways, the general rule is that a 33x11.50your wheel diameter) is the largest that will fit stock. The tire size will be metric, but there are too many different number combinations...

ATC, what happened to your plans on doing the SAS on your 97? Guess you just got the 79 bronco now to use offroad?

Yup. I drove all the way to IN for a rear axle I was going to use on the F150 in February. Then 2-3 weeks after that, a friend of mine bought this Bronco to use the engine. He ended up not needing it, and put it up for sale. I jumped on it. Already has a solid axle, big block, and 10X the aftermarket support than these F150's. If I used my '97 for a SAS, I would have had to find a cheap DD to get me around in. Not to mention all the electronic gremlins I would run into with this truck once it sees mud and water...

So I figured I would keep the '97 as a DD (for now) and build the Bronco into what I want. I'll have to sell the D80 I picked up in favor of a D60/10.25 for the Bronco (nearly bolt-in. I would have to narrow the D80 by 10" for it to fit). Once the Bronco is set, I want to sell the '97 in favor of a mid-90's F350 and car trailer to haul the Bronco on.

Anyways, here's what I have to fix in the 460:

Ready for the machine shop!

sounds like a plan, i thought about jsut buyin a 73-79 ford and using that for my offroad rig but i just love this body style truck too much, imma just leave it basically stock for now (untill i finish highschool atleast) then while in in college and not driving it much, may even get dads ranger to drive around who knows, i figure ill go ahead and start tearing into it and puttin in new axles and all, the electronic part shouldnt be too bad i dont think, just protect the important parts of the engine and try to cover the rest of the elec chit up, good luck with the bronco build though! should be a pretty cool rig when done, i love them old broncs
