okay i was just wondering if it was possible to swap a 5 speed manual out of a 96 f150 with a c4 or c6 whatever came out of a 79 f150 4x4 with a 351 MODIFIED im pretty sure you can change the bellhousings but because the transmission is not computer controlled would it shift okay with the vaccume pulled by a fuel injected engine. there are 3 reasons i want to change it and they are 1 the mazda tranny is JUNK!!!! 2 i am getting tired of shifting and 3 i want the strength of the np 205 transfer case thats on that particular automatic tranny... well i guess there are 4 reasons... my tranny is making some bad noises like it sounds like there is just a bunch of junk rattleing around inside of it. please someone shed some light on my idea and tell me if it would just be a waste of time or not... thanks
If you have crossmebers (Dont know if need) and driveshafts from a Ftruck to fit the c6 Go for it. The Manual is not computer controlled. The c6 was a option on F250 f350 for year after end of use in f150
Yes the C6 is a cheap strong 3 speed transmission and it dose come in both a small and big block case. "njtinman2" is rite the "M" motors bolt patterns are different. But the C6 is a good choice for an automatic, with the price and the strength. You can get a new crate C6 from the parts store for @ $800. What ever you do say away from the idea of an AOD. I had mine rebuilt 2 years ago for $1000 and the parts store wants $1400 this last time. I swapped it for a SB C6 I rebuilt myself and love it to death. I only had to look at the book once when rebuilding it .
