deisel in RV

Hi I want to buy a FORD mid 80's to mid 90's RV 25-30 foot you can buy a nice one with a gas engine for about 2,500.00 and up. Has anybody put a 7.3 turbo in one after taken out the gas engine? Any help would be nice. Also what kind of manual trans can I put behind the 7.3 turbo or should I stay with an auto?

Thanks for all the in put that you all will give on this I hope.

Thanks Rory

RVs with diesel were available.......... There is a member on one of the sites I frequent that has one for sale in Toronto Canada area. It is a Corsair built in BC in the mid 80's. Not sure whether it has a 6.9 or 7.3.........probably coupled to a C6/E4OD.

I recently spoke with someone who had an '85 E 350 based Class C, I think a 24 foot Vanguard. It had a 6.9 and C-6. Depending on the rig, if I was doing the conversion I'd stay automatic. A C-6 or beefed up E40D. If a van nosed RV, I don't know where to put a manual shifter, likewise if a 'flatfront', front engined rig. The only option I see for a manual would be a truck cab/Chassis based unit.
