So i always see the picture in the magazines of the guy with 10" lifted f350's. I was wonderin where they got their lift kits from. the biggest i can find to fit my 90 crew cab is a 6" kit from skyjacker. even cruisin the net, thats all i find. i only tryin to get my truck up 8" over stock, an not tryin to spend a ton of money on it.....any help?
i got a 90 f350 diesel with a stick crewcab, an all i can find for suspensions are 6". i been buildin 4x4's for years, mostly the old 73-79 stuff an buildin chevys for other folks. the crew cab 350 is really kickin me. i can find the lifts for the newer trucks, 98-up, but not the older ones......
The 4 wheel shop around here will most of the time build there own if they are going pretty high. I will see if I can find anything over 6" for ya though
lgfuller, I'd recommend looking at getting 6" lift springs front & rear, and picking up Sky Manufacturing's front shackle reversal kit and rear shackle flip kit. That'd give you 9" lift, pretty easy.
ghunt, i was starting to get kinda reserved to that, as parts for these are gettin kinda hard to find. bye the bye, sweet spec on the turbocoupe, i got an 88 thats another project.....
The reason the days of super large banana shaped springs are gone, is because they just do not flex, they do not ride well, and those days are way gone, thank goodness.
Your solution is really pretty easy.
I believe your 90 truck has a solid front axle dana 60 with leaf springs and a front swing shackle. Here is where things get interesting. This front swing shackle has got to go. The shackle reverse kit recommended above is part of the solution, though the one from SKY appears to only be for the later trucks, but with some modification it could be copied, or modified to fit. You will notice that it is also available in a 5" version. This combined with a set of 6" springs will be so huge that you will be able to fit just about any DOT tire under it.
Later model trucks such as the 97 are capable of clearing 40 inch tires with a shackle reverse kit and very mild SD springs.
Custom leafs are available froma veriety of manufacturers, and simply have to be made if you chose to go that route, but your lift should be very easy to obtain, and can be done while still maintaining a decent ride, and still have street manners.
