Ignition questions.
I have a MSD Distributor, Coil and also a Multiple Spark Discharge; P/N 6200 and a Tach Adapter, P/N 8920 mounted on the Wheel Well and I am curious if I removed the Tach Adapter and the Multiple Spark Discharge if it would help as the Tach does not activate for a minute or so and only when I tap the throttle. The Smog Technician stated that it reads 500 RPM too high but it does read 1000 at idle once it activates so his info must be incorrect. Perhaps I could just remove the Tach Adapter as well as the Multiple Spark Discharge unit?
Moreover, one of the Spark Plug Wires was sparking while testing so the Technician got it to work and I am curious if I am able to cut the end and crimp the connector or should I just purchase new wires and what would you all recommend and what Spark Plugs as well for the 460 CID.
I would also like to remove EVERYTHING emmision related and just box them up with a sketch and replace them when I retest in 2 years. I would just put a Complete K&N Chrome Air Filter on the Holley and Breathers Only on the Valve Covers.
Am I "biting off more than I can chew?" I want a "free breather" and perhaps I may gain some "ponies" and a couple extra MPG.
All suggestions are most welcome and appreciated! This Forum is AWESOME and you guys know your stuff!!!!!
Thanks!
Mark
