Front Axle VS 4x4 Auto Lock

Hi,

In my search of weird sound in the front of my truck! I did remove the auto lock and check if evrything seems right. Is that normal that the axle shaft have a big play. Like you grab it and you move it up and down, side by side and the play is at least an inch ??
The noise i am searching for is a grinding sound that is worst on acceleration and deceleration and also when hitting bumps! and also clunk sound. when i am going slow (in a parking) and turn I can hear the clunk and also feel it on the floor of the truck!

Could it be the needle bearing of the axle shaft that are bad ?

What is done so far trying to fix the problem!
-New Front Stabilizer/Link Bushing.
-New Front leaf spring Bushing.
-Did remove and clean/grease both Auto Lock!

Thanks!

the play comes from your main knuckle seal being damaged or shot... see the same document

the needle bearings may be the cause of the noise.... check them with your finger nail, if they move then they fine

OR better yet, turn the wheel one way hubs unlocked truck in 2x4 mode

spin the short shaft, does it feel grindy or gritty? If yes then replace the needle bearings
