compressed air powered car

Looks like they have a car that runs on compressed air now. All you have to fill is the air tank that takes a couple of hours and then they claim that you can run 1000miles on it. For city use it might be a good deal, but I would be concered about what happens in a accident with that much pressure in the tank:

It takes energy to compress air, and most forms of energy production produce pollution in one form or another. But, France, with their extensive network of nuclear power plants is a much better market for an electrically-powered vehicle (assuming the compressor has an electric motor).

I don't see how they could compress enough air to travel 1000 miles. A typical scuba tank @ 3000 lbs is only 80 cubic ft. Air tools are rated in CFM- cubic feet per minute. A moderate size air tool might use 4 CFM, meaning a scuba tank would only run it for 20 minutes. I notice that Lowes has an air tool system that uses small disposable (and expensive) air tanks. They don't look big enough to run a tool for more than a couple minutes. Good point about crashes- a scuba tank exploded here in FL while being filled, and took most of the dive shop with it when it blew.

A tank under 4500 psi, that should make a good bang when it explodes. I wonder if this car will by pass the crash tests.

Carbon composite tanks typically do not fail in a boom fashion. They usually split open but stay together.

This guy is fishing for investor cash. "A fool and his money are soon departed." How many Tesla electric cars are in the hands of customers after how many millions in investor money has been spent?

Since physics and thermodynamics are not taught in business school, these impossible ideas can sound doable if the sales pitch is good enough.

Using a gas would probably make more power and cfpm There is a
limit(dot) on the pressure of even carrying scuba tanks and that is 230bar so that would limit on the distance. That quasiturbine motor can be powered by compressed
air. There is a pump thing for scuba that is basically a pressure amplifier and it allows
you to take say 4 tanks that are low on air and take them and use that air in them to
refill another tank that way the 4 tanks are completely empty and the 5th is full, I
forget what it is called but i wonder if something like that could be used to increase
the pressure and power the motor since it is powered by the air itself it could work
it would seem. I can't for the life of me remember what it is called.

Better do a little research. These cars are currently being built and marketed in France. Delevopment has been on going for the past several years and has even been documented on the Discovery and Science channels in the last year.

Help me out here then, what French company is building and selling, not just "marketing" these miracle autos? Tesla will claim that they are building all-electric cars too, without a single retail customer yet driving one.
