Rear cab mounts
Rear cab mounts
Has any one made rear cab mount for their 48-52 ford, im looking to get reed of the arm brackets and go with a newer looking mount, I would like to see pic if anyone has.
I have not, but replacing the dogbone could be done with a newer style F150 (73-96) set at the right height, and using the rubber spacer for cushion. Just a matter if there's a way to run the bolt thru the cab floor.
Thanks, but the back off the cab is setting on the frame and need to be moved up about 1/2 inche or more. So if anyone made a rear cab mount and has a pic of one. Were can i get a round cab mount if i do make one.
I don't have a solution for eliminating the dogbone arms, except noting that Sac Vintage Ford makes an adjustable one. I'm going to rebuild mine to stock, as I noticed that misalignment of the rear of the cab affects the entire front clip. If the cab is tilted, the front clip will not sit at the same height side to side.
Pro49-------I made my own cab mounts using 2" by 5"channel cut at an angle and raised to correct height and welded to frame, then I used 21/2" solid rubber for mounts to cab. What I uaed for rubber mounts was a new rubber roller for a boat trailer, when you figure the right size you can cut the rubber with a chop saw for a good clean cut, so far I'm pleased as I did't like the cab rolling all over the place on those arms, Garry

Pro49, They are on the outside of frame rail, I don't know if i have any pics but i'll look, the cab feels real stable. I don't know where the original holes were in cab because it was a basket case when i got it and had a new floor and some holes already drilled but my idea for the rubber mounts seem to really be working well--- Garry
If your thinking of making the mounts like homade described, how about welding a
4" by 6" to the bracket at the frame,drill/slot them then bolt to frame for adjustability?
Good Idea there homade!! I like the boat-trailer roller idea also..always good to incorporate some Marine/Aircraft stuff in when you stylishly can!
