My first engine rebuild ,Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am rebuilding my first engine a 85 351w (Full Sized Bronco).I took it apart and took crank and heads to shop. They rebuilt the heads and machined the crank.I marked the heads with right and left before i gave it to them. When i got them back the mark was erased ,now i dont know which is right and left.I just wanted to know if there is a way to tell for factory id or something.Ps like a idiot i torqued them down already so i hope i am right if not i will need a new headgasket. Thanks in advance.Sorry for stupid question
Louis

In 85 your engine should of had a smog pump on it. In that case the inlets for the smog lines should be located at the rear of the engine. If you took the smog pump off and caped the holes leading into the exhaust ports you can put the heads on any way you want. They may have some diffent sized tapped holes in one end or the other for the accessory mountings.

Yes the heads are the same. If you have them on the wrong side you might have the air pump hole open to the front and closed to the rear. If you are not worried about the closed end, the front of the head will be open and you will need one or both of the holes for accessory bolts. There is a plug that goes in that has internal threads for your accessory bolts. Let me know if you need some.
