fuel pump
i reccently bought a 89 bronco. Th fuel pump is hard wired to the ignition. The fuel gauge does not work at all. I rest the inerta switch, and tried to wire it bad up right, but the was no power to the pump, did i miss something some where or is the switch bad? thank you in advance.

I'm not sure really without doing some testing on it. I had a 89 f150 that I had wired up like that, but that's because it had an electrical gremlin that I just couldn't figure out for the life of me. Then I ran into a guy at work with an 88 f150 that did the same thing. we just put a toggle switch on it also so that we could kill the pumps if we were just sitting.
If you want to pursue this more, start by checking the fuel pump relay. I meter or a test light will help alot.

Thanks Chrono, Ill do that monday after work. Only the high pressure pump on the rail is wired like that. Right now it takes 5 to 6 seconds for the fuel pump to prime when its cold, when it warm it will prime right away. It loops at idle when its hot too, it all most seems like it running rich, idk im kinda lost.

well the relay was bad, It looked like it got real hot and melted. I put in a new one, I then had power in to the inertia switch, so i bypassed it. I know have power to the high pressure pump, just like be for, but it runs like it should. The wireing for the low pressure pump is srewed, Im going to drop the tank and rewire it.
