93 Rearend

Has anyone used a 1993 F150 Rear end 8.8 in one of our Slicks I know it is wider approx 61" but the sheetmetal on our beds is about 63" that is with a slight setback on the existing rims. We were looking at this option to stay with the complete 93 drive train we are installing a 302 FI and a A4od Trans the 93 Rearend is a 3.55 and our original 9" is a 3.25 the 9" needs some rebuilding so the 8.8 which is in better condition would be the cheaper way to go. We are open to any and all comments and yes your opinons.

An 8.8 may be cheaper, but nothing outlasts a 9.

Why did Ford go with the 8.8?

It was cheaper to make than a 9 inch, it also required more service.

More service = more parts sales = more money for Ford = less for you.

The usual problem: Just wait till the pinion shaft's threaded lock pin snaps off.

Here's the part number, to save you the trouble of asking for it later: D8BZ-4241-B.

I didn't need to look up the p/n, either. I wonder why?
