Blowing black smoke
It blows black smoke out the exhaust severly when i gun it, or when i am towing.
When i start it up and my girlfriends car is parked next to me the exhaust squirts black all over her car its like a fine black moist powder.
I am getting 6 mpg
The check engine light comes on after driving in city conditions, does not come on if driving on highway.
other then that maybe less power but i cant really tell i have not driven it in 4 months.
I have relpaced the throttle body
Throttle Position sensor
Idle Air Control Valve
Oxygen Sensor
The throttle feels amazing now that it does not stick open.
What do I do to get my 15 mpg back and a happy girlfriend??
Can not pull any codes at all
all say they can be replacing part after part and never find whats wrong.
tell me to sell it and at least get back what i have put into it.
Ive replaced the transmission and last week 550 on throttle and sensors.
I need to figure out how to get my 16mpg back
Anyone else have better knowledge?
1990 Ford Bronco 351 w
im getting 6mpg
ive replaced throttle body and all sensors surrounding it
also oxygen sensor before the cat.
Ive been told it could be the map sensor but should i dare go buy one and find out its not the problem when it could be gaskets in the fuel system?

All you got to do is ground the STI wire and count the flashes on the check engine light when the key is turned to the on position. If this doesn't work then I suggest you pull the computer and inspect the connector, you may have a bad connection or a bad ECU.

have hit us up sooner and defiantely before a parts swap shop. If the fuel or a
large percentage of it is getting near 90 days old it is turning bad!! When fuel ages
the octane actually starts to RISE!! You could have 160 octane fuel in there right
now and that thing is lucky to even be igniting it. I know it hurts to have to drain
it but it isn't a loss, I would keep it in cans and add a bottle of that Lucas fuel
treatment and at least 1 bottle of Heet for say every 3-4 gallons then you can add
a gallon of it to the gas tank every week until it is gone, Don't try to dump more then
that in on a full tank only a gallon at a time until it is gone and it shouldn't hurt.
The reason the black is coming out is because that is unburnt fuel and that is a sign
that I would take to clean the O2 sensor, Pull it out and hold the sensor in the flame
for a good 15 seconds and wipe it off basically you want the windows in it to be open
and let the exhaust into the actual sensor. It don't have to shine just hit it with the
flame enough to burn off the carbon build up it could take 30-40+ seconds of flame time to get it clean enough.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
bottles of Heet and iso heet will get the water out!! water is heavier and sinks to
the bottom and since that is where you pull the fuel from it can give you fits.
If you do let the truck sit for months at a time filling it to the top with fuel and
some sta bil will keep the fuel fresh.
What does your spark plugs look like immeadiately after a highway run? Listen to
all your injectors with a screwdriver or stethoscope you should hear each one click
sharply and be about the same level as the others. If you got one that is diminished
or not making any noise it could be stuck open(worse) or closed because it isn't
getting any signal or locked up.
replaced it
runs great!!!
Now I need to replace the rear Leaf Springs
