Steering box replacement 82 4X4....
question, if you were going to replace your F 150 steering box due to wear, would you try and find a new one? rebuilt? rebuild your own? Do you know a good rebuilder if thats the route I have ta go? thanks

Just buy a remaned from a major chain store. Too many problems with DIY rebuilding. The parts for one are hard to get. Used boxes most likely are no better then yours. see too many that came off low mileage trucks/cars that were bad.

I used a reman from CarQuest. I believe they sell a quality box. Five years ago I paid like $184 for it. It still works great & have had NO issues with it. Mine is an 86 F250 4x4. IMO the only other way to go is the new performance boxes you can get from Jegs or Summit. I think they are around $300-$400.
