Sure. A little of it sometimes goes a long way for me, but this old fart's been through some Metallica benders & always dug that band Living Colour.

My music taste runs wide.... currently in the truck I have Queen with Paul Rogers, Thunder, Dokken, Winger, Lita Ford, Ozzy, Metallica, Chicago's Greatest Hits, Firehouse, Slaughter, Skid Row, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Chesney, Heart. The rest of the collection runs from U2 to Pink Floyd to Aerosmith to Van Halen to Boston to Creed to Journey to Iron Maiden to Genesis...... I think that you get the idea. LOL.

Now if I included my cassette tape collection....

When the local PBS station has their pledge drive, I occassionally will watch the shows with the 50's and 60's do wop(sp?) groups.

I am also a person that 'grew' up in the 80's as I was in High School during the middle part of the decade.

C4 I have to agree with the statement about Living Colour. Very good band especially for a trio.

Glover/Reid/Calhoun/Skillings (replaced by Wimbish)=4 - that's a lot of noise for 3!

Good stuff. Our PBS ran an anthology of the Johnny Cash show during one drive. They had him jamming with Derek and the Dominoes and man I can't remember who else. It was fantastic. Genesis - I was a huge fan of "Seconds Out"

Lol - Kenny G. You might appreciate this little rant, then. The poster says he's not sure where it came from , but I'm pretty sure I saw it on Metheny's own website years back. If your short on time, scroll down to paragraph 10 or so when Pat begins his "discussion" of Kenny G's propensity to record himself on top of famous musicians (key phrase: "musical necrophelia" ).

AAAHHH...I haven't heard this music...he does have a lot of nerve playing over Louis Armstrong music. Louis is...argueably...one of the greatest jazz musicians ever. Most people only remember him as the "clown like" figure with the puffed out cheeks...but he was truly a great musician.

My absolute all time favorite musician is the Beales Street Blues Boy...none other than BB King...King of the Blues. I've had the pleasure of seeing him live 8 times and rue the day...perhaps sooner rather than later...that he will no longer be able to perform. He has recently cut his touring time to about 200 days on the road... down from about 300 days on the road.

Not to mention a great man. If you like that vein, Kermit Ruffins is a lot of fun if you haven't heard him. Louie never let the technique get in the way of the fun like a lot of later players did.

B.B. - when you right, you right, BK. I've yet to see him live tho.

Glad I started this thread!

I haven't had the opportunity to see BB King live, but I did see Louis Armstrong in the mid 70's at Weirs Beach, Lake Winnipesauke NH (the old Irwin Gardens on the pier)

Man that must have been great. I was just too late to see all those greats - Basie, Armstrong, Krupa, Duke Ellington.
