Traction

I was wondering if others have similar problems with their right foot? It is always on the floor and I'm getting tired of replacing the right rear rubber. I think the truck has an 8.8" limited slip rear end but both tires only spin sometimes. Is there an easy way to get more traction by having both wheels spin more of the same and less on the passenger side of the truck?

Install a limited slip, locker, spool, or just weld them, the options are endless.

Before "locking" your rear diff, what are your plans here. Remember that the tires need to spin at diff speeds when turning. So if you plan on making a pulling truck that just goes in a straight line than sure weld then solid.

I would look more into why you are spinning just one tire so much that you are buring off that much rubber....

Bad suspension, towing excessivly heavy loads etc....

First confirm you have the LS diff, there should be an L between the first and 3rd digits on the ID tag hanging off the rear axle.
If so, then visit your local scrapyard and pull the clutch packs out of another 8.8 or buy a rebuild kit. Open up the diff on your truck, remove the pinion shaft and S spring, and then all the clutch disks. You'll notice they are stacked with metal plates next to one another. You want to restack them with alternating friction and metal plates using the spares you got, and then put everything back together and refill the diff with gear oil and a bottle of LS diff friction modifier. This will dramatically increase the holding power of the diff, essentially locking it anytime power is applied as long as both tires have some traction.

Yea it aint no limited slip woodly if it was both tires would spin not just one like what it does is when one tire slips like the right rear it transfers power to the left so both spin at the same time or something like that

go to you door jamb and look at axle code if its like B6 or H9 a letter and number its limited slip diff

but if its just numbers like 19 or some sort its no limited slip

if it is limited slip try draining the fluid and add gear oil to it slowly adding limited slip fluid until tires dont chirp around corners. ford recommends too much that causes the clutches to not engage as much as we perfer
