Oh we had it strapped alright lol .... if it were going to fall out or tip out,... the truck would have gone the same way (either lift the front wheels off the ground or tip over) thats why I drove veeeery slow

I think we should invest in a car hauler though ..... much safer I belive

(got back enough to get my '94 f150 fixed and on the road

we get a better price at the scrap yard then the crane company (and almost everyone else lol)... thats how I could afford it ....they would have got about $70 for the whole thing which turns out to be 3186LB

.... I got $95 just for the steel part of it (2700LB).... and around $600 for the remainder of the weight(376LB)

and they will be calling us back ... thats a contract to keep!! :P

OH MY GOD! I done some stupid things but that took it.
I use to have a 82 ford 1/2 ton that I towed my Bobcat and trailer with. I cleaned farms and businesses and I know that truck handles it fine. The bumper was beefed up from a construction company that also used it for hauling a trailer and bobcat. The springs were heavy duty.
What got me to get a 3/4 ton was the spot checks and the highway traffic guys were nailing a lot of farmers and campers at that time hauling and pulling trailers and loads not rated for the truck. The fines were quite hefty. So I got a 3/4 to be safe.
I have hauled gravel in 1/2 tons where the tires looked going flat and any hi speed the truck would go to and fro.
Good thing is you made it safe, But if your going to keep hauling big loads like that. Invest in a larger truck. Not just your safety, but mine as well when on the road.

Och, looks like most of the 3,500 lbs is over or behind the rear axle....Time to invest in a trailer.

When I had my Mazda B2200, I used it to carry a 1970's frontiersman Camper (rating by the door 1272lbs) driving that Camper from Abbotsford to Maple Ridge it was sure interesting, after I parked it, I beefed the rear shocks with Monroe Air-Ride, took me from 1/4 ton, to 3/4 ton.

So I can imagine what that unit you dragged home was line...
