You know, on certain vehicles this is the preffered way to gain 3" of body lift, welding a piece of 3x3 square tubre to the body mounts. Not going to do it on my Ford, but it worked great on my Geo Tracker.

jesus, i can't find the pic, but you're not the a-hole with the tracker on a massive bodylift with stilts for the spring mounts on the axle, are you?

"Seriously though, the people that insist on doing these type of things aren't going to take the time to read this"

In my case I'm glad I read it. I was considering doing a body lift on my 99 Expedition and after reading the write up I realize that it would be a bad idea. I think I ought to save and just go for a suspension lift.

My main reason for the lift was to safely go through water. Do you guys know where I can get a snorkel for the expedition? I'll try that until I can afford a 6" suspension lift.

If your in deep enough water that you need to worry about a snorkel you have a lot more to worry about first... Like waterproofing all your electronics... You will get water in your floorboards before you engine sucks water (if your going slow) blasting through standing water is a great way to do all kinds of damage. Never a good idea. ever.

Computers on these vehicles do not take kindly to being submerged in water. So I recommend against running that deep.
How much water are you thinking you want to run through?

and finally to answer your question. I can't recall ever seeing an expedition with a snorkel, doesn't mean they don't exist though.

Well this truck is a daily driver.

There is a lot of flooding during the rainy season. Last time I saw a standard height F150 with the water flowing over the hood. So this is my concern.
I certainly don't want any electrical issues either.

As a brother to the guys that will have to come rescue your sorry *** for trying to forge fast running flood waters, please don't. It is very easy to underestimate both the depth and the speed of water flowing across a street. Misjudge it and if you're lucky you have to get rescued, if you're unlucky your family has to decide between burial or cremation.

Why not....here. Yes the accident was probably hard enough to separate the cab anyway, but you sure can see the body lift spacers.

and in that picture, you can see what everyone is talking about with body lifts. the extended bolts can not handle the stress, and snap. the bushing is still there on the frame bracket, as is the cab mount still attached to the cab. but the extended bolt failed, causing the head to snap off.
