Smile Different Stealership prices

Ok here's the situation. The other day while going down a dirt road I noticed that my two doors on my 90' F150 were rattling. So, upon further investigation I discovered that the actual door strikers were missing the polymer/plastic piece that goes over the striker bolt! The passenger side was completely gone and the driver’s side was half gone! So, this past Saturday I went to the local Ford parts department to see if I could get the polymer/plastic piece.. Not a serviceable item so, you have to buy the complete striker assembly for $19.18 each! Well I got the part number and said no thanks and left. Yesterday I remembered that I had bought a couple of CPSs from Fuller Ford since they had a good price so, I checked them out again! I order the two parts from Fuller yesterday at Ohio</FONT]<FONT color=#001000 Minute="43" 8?>8:43am for $13.81 each and did the over night shipment for $8.95. Today a <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[img] /><font color=" /><st1:time Hour="11" Minute="41">11:41am</st1:time> the parts were delivered! Total cost $36.57 from Fuller shipped vs local in town Ford for $41.05 with tax. Total savings from Fuller was $4.48. Just thought you should know that they’re not all Stealerships!!

For something that simple, a junk yard is your best bet. They would be about $10 for both at the most, and most don't go bad and even if they did, its worth looking for good ones in a bone yard because it would save you $30 even at the cheapest dealer.

Hey Chris how goes in up there in Mass? FYI. I actually did try two local junk yards first. Both said yeah we got some but neither yard had any good ones so, I went the new route.. Has it stopped snowing up there yet? Thanks again!

For some reason that dosnt surprise me, Trucks that year are so common, Im sure someone already had the same problem and either already got the good ones or they broke already.
I just always go to the junkyards first since I hate dropping lots of cash for parts that I could get used for cheaper.

Yep, I also try to scope out the junk yard first. I have one near work and another in the next town. I just plan my trips accordingly with the price of gas being what it is these days! Thanks again!

If you're talking about the plastic bushings that go around the striker bolt, I picked up a pair at our local Auto Zone for a couple of dollars, in the area where they have the door hinge pins and bushings. The new ones have worked fine for two or three years now.

Hmm thanks Herbert! Don't have a local Autozone that's convenient but, I'll have to check it out for future reference. You learn something new every day on FTE!! Thanks again...

You can also buy the entire assembly right off the rack at O'Reilly's auto for about $10.00 each. I did not know youi could get only the plastic bushings but that is what I will get next time. I have 2 of the strikers that only need the bushings!! Then I will have 2 spares.
