Hello all, first time here, i hang out in the slick 60's club as thats what i am working on. anyway i parted out an 1980 f-150 and installed the rear gas tank in my 66 F-250 4-WD, my question isthis .does anyone know which wire goes where as far as hooking up the guage. one is black and the other is yellow with blue spots on it. which one goes to the guage and which is ground. and also if anyone knows is there a certain amount of OHMS that it takes to make the guage work correctly and /or will the wiring from the original truck work. i hope i asked that right as my other pickup has a tank from a Bronco in it and it only works to about half of a tank. I might add here that i did not pull that tank apart to see if the sender itself is shot. Thanks Guys. Dutch

The black is ground, the yellow with blue hash marks goes to the gauge. Don't be surprised if it doesn't work, these sending units are famous for wearing out. But, I have had a 100% success rate so far in repairing them. It's either a float problem, or there is a problem with the wiper inside the little box. You can carefully bend back the tabs on the box, and usually solder the wiper back together. I have had them crack and also completely break off.
