UVCH or ???

Just a quick question hoping for some input. My truck (99 7.3) just started extreme power loss that leads to eventual stalling. The truck has new fuel filter, fresh oil, fresh air cleaner. It runs strong as ever until it gets warmed up, then it starts missing and gets worse until it quits. I tried just letting it idle and it ran fine for 1 hr, got in it and started driving, no problems until I pushed it a little and got up to good speed. The SES light is not coming on.

Could this be the UVCH or does it sound like something else.

Thanx much

Sounds like it could be the UVCH issue. You can test it without removing the valve covers with an ohm meter.

You can disconnect the outside plug and ohm the wires for resistance to determine which side needs to come off. The valve cover gasket is re-usable.

The 9-pin plug is wired as follows:

G G I I C I I G G

G=Glow Plug +
I = Injector +
C= Injector Common

The injectors fire with a 115VDC signal from the IDM. Do Not pierce the wires to test.

Test between "I" and "C" to test the injectors, should be less than 5.0 Ohms.

To check glow plugs Test between "G" and battery ground. Should be between 0.6 and 2.0 Ohms
