[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Dec-02 AT 07:38 PM (EST)]On my other '73 F-100 with 302 (I have two) I got under it the other day and the bottom of the manual tranny was covered with oil! Okay, did a lot of searching, and it seems to be coming from an odd place. The last bottom head bolt, drivers side at the back!! At least, the bolt head is covered with oil! The valve cover and block area just above it is dry as a bone! And it doesn't seem like a blown head gasket, as the engine runs fine and the closest plug is dry, and I'm not loosing any coolent. Also the bolt shows the proper torque, and the oil level isn't really going down much.
Does that particular bolt hole in the block somehow enter an oil passage? Should those bolts have sealer on them? I know about sealing head bolts on some engines due to possible coolent leaks...but oil? Any suggestions? Thanks, Polkat
