Having the head gaskets done in a couple of weeks. Just wondering if the ARP Studs are worth installing? At $500 I was wondering what everyone thinks. The Tech said that he would install them if I purchased them. Thanks!!
If you can afford it do it, as long as the heads are checked to make sure they are true and flat, then with the head studs installed you have one less thing to worry about with these 6.0's
even without performance mods i think they are critical, mind you i'm at 200k km's with not head gasket problems but its always on the back of my mind and one of the things i want to do to my truck this summer

I would definately do them, but also(as rollerstud98 already stated) make sure that they look over your heads and either machine them or totally replace them and make sure the new ones are good to go otherwise you'll have head problems despite the studs(you would have problem rather or not they do studs if they don't check the heads for flatness). The good news with studs if you do have problems again with heads(if they don't do a good install job), you can reuse them unlike the bolts.
Absolutely have them installed. As stated above, make sure you ask the Tech about checking the block deck and the heads to ensure they are perfectly flat.
Keep in mind: You MUST take your truck to the same service department for any work involving removing the heads. Example: tracking down and repairing the source of an oil leak. Another service department may not be 'stud-friendly' and could (wrongly) blame problems on the studs since they're not Ford parts.
I had the studs installed and am much more confident in my truck, especially when towing.
Thanks! Looks like I'll be buying a set of studs! I currently run a Bully Dog with an Air Raid intake and MBRP exhaust - Turbo Back (no cat). Sounds like the studs are a good investment.
i don't know how common it is but it does happen. i bought my truck used and stock and 2 thousand miles after that the head gaskets blew and both heads had small cracks.
You were just having too much fun in that shot! What sand were you in? Maybe Pismo?
Keep it up(right)!
Brian
You got it !!!
I was playing with family and friends for easter week, I have just as much fun playing in the dunes with the truck as I do with the quads!
