Was the F-250 in 1988 delivered with the 6,9 or the 7,3 litres diesel?
And was there different alternatives for the manual transmission? I am thinking of the zf-5 or was there a 4-speed, or a 4-speed with electric overdrive?
Hi, the '88 came with a normally aspirated 7.3. I'm not up on the manual trannies, but there have been many posts about converting to a ZF5 5-speed, search this site a bit. I don't know how plentiful these trucks and junkyards for parts are in your country.
In terms of electric overdrives, I'm not aware of anything from the factory, a gear vendors type unit would be an option.
Stumbled over a left prosject truck today. Haven`t seen it. But it is supposed to be an 1988 7,3 4x4, manual transmission, ext.cab. To me it was better than finding gold! So I phoned the owner and bought the truck.
( My wife is pretty sure I have lost the rest of my mind)
