Crushed 6637

I just got my 6637 filter in the mail from fleet filter all excited about the install and much to my disappointment it was crushed on one side. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what fleet filter will do for me? I sent them an email and a picture but haven't gotten a response.

Probably in transit - They should take care of it.

You may have to file a claim with the handler (UPS?).

If you're in a hurry to use it, maybe Fleet will respond and let you use it as is and they or UPS will throw one in for free. It's filtering abilities should not be compromised.

If the box is dented, then its the shipping companies responsibility. Mark's right, as it should still filter fine. Mines got a few dents from when I installed it and smashed the hood down on it (always check for clearance first ), still works fine.

Put your hand inside and push the dent out.

If you push the dent out with the filter you might puncture it against the cage.

Make a hook from a coat hanger or brazing rod.
Pull the cage dent out with your hook, mulitple pull points
might be needed. Just like pulling a body dent.
Then push the filter into place from the inside.

Check carefully for punctures or tears.

DK's idea is about what I had thought. Use something to pull out the outer metal part of the filter and then gently push the filter media into place. Way to go DK! Jump right in on your 1st post and help a fellow FTE'r. Welcome to the sight, a bunch of great guys on here!

Well I finally goot the 6637 put in, sp far so good. Now I just need to go get my cover from Pete (I accidentally had it shipped to my mom's). Look at the pic where the filter hits that resevoir. Is this normal?

Mine is also making contact. It doesn't look like there is any friction marks between the two but there is some contact.

It looks like its sitting up pretty high too. I had that problem and ended up cutting the old air box around the battery. Sits just right now. If you want, I could upload a pic.
