I've been hitting my bump stops a lot lately on these frost heaved northern Maine roads and the ride is starting to wear me thin. I was looking at a friends 250 and noticed he had about 6 inches from spring to rubber stopper.
So... I'm thinking I'm going to replace the front leaf springs(and shocks while I'm at it). My front springs are convex at this point. Does anyone have any suggestion on where to find good ones(other than a dealer). I liked the rough country and skyjacker ones, as they add 2" of overall lift.
almost all diesels with stock suspention are about a inch or less from the bump stop... now if he has that much is it a gasser??? does he have a lift kit??? or maybe the rsk and superduty springs???
As per "CONVEX" (Front) Leaf springs....my 97 PSD 4X4 came from the factory that way ! (I think GM started that -suspension engineering design- trend back in the mid 70's)
THO..if anyone knows where I can get replacement bushings and "greasable" bolts for the stock 97 PSD 4X4 front shackles...LET ME KNOW !

the skyjackers are known for quality. They sell them here:

The books will tell you that the shackle bushings are not replaceable and you need to buy the shackle from ford......I beg to differ. I purchased poly bushings for a 96 from energy suspension. when I removed the shackle from the truck it has rubber bushings with a steel sleeve. If you remove the steel sleeve... PITA.... the poly bushings are a perfect fit. As for the bolts I don't know I just covered my bushings inside and out and the bolt with a good grease and have had no problems.
