If I try to start truck without it being plugged when air temp is below freezing it has a hard time starting.
Tested glow plugs 1 bad.
WTS comes on and can hear clicking and see voltage cycling
Replaced fuel return lines,o-rings, and caps.
It will start after the second attempt but it is rough and smokes.
When plugged in it is fine.
How long does the wait to start light stay on?
Have you replaced the bad glow plug?
The new style glow plug system uses resistance feed back from the glow plugs to time the heat cycle.
One bad plug will make the cycle shorter and the engine will not fire on that cylinder when it does start.
Two bad plugs will make the cycle very short, or possibly make it not cycle at all.
Cahnged GP yesterday afternoon. When I turned the key this AM WTS stayed on for approx. 17 seconds. No cycling after that. Truck started good. I put a little antisieze on the threads. 2700 deg rating. Hope that won't hurt anything.
Thanks guys!
