Bed repair panels

My 73 f-100 short bed has been smashed and rusted throgh at the top of the bed where the front stake hole is.This is the only real problem on the bed.Does anyone know if they make a repair panel for this area?I thought I had seen one before, but I can't find it in my catalogs.A local salvage yard will let me hack one up,but I would much rather use new metal. Thanks!

The only repair panels they make are for over the wheel well and up to the groove in the body and come in 2 lenths. It would be abetter repair to swap the complete side if you want a near perfect job. They cost about 200 to 300 $/ side and can be done relatively easy. It all depends on what you want in the end and how picky you are about your truck. A side swap can be ready for paint in lass than a day from start to finish and no bodyfill to hide.

I'm in Canada and deal with Cross Canada for my repair parts. You can get them through NPD, LMC Truck, NAPA auto parts or any good size body supply outfit sould be able to get them. There are abour 200 to 300/ side depending on lenth and # of fuel doors. The newest way to install these panels in with Panel Bond glue. Mig weld the front wall in a couple places and inside the taillight and Bond the rest of the panel on, very easy and super fast to do if you have some basic autobody skills.

I have had a hard time finding bed sides for a short bed. That is why I considered patching. The F-100 supernationals are coming to my city in May,I will be searching for parts, with all the different vendors surely I can find something. Most of them last year said they only sold complete beds$$$$.The salvage yards around here don't have any good ones.

My NPD parts book lists the shortbox side as part #F-27840-5R (right) and
#F-27841-5R (left) $250.00/side long bed, no cost showing for the short bed, every panel needed to duild a new box is there. Enjoy the Nationals, we get nothing even close to that here in Nova Scotia.
