351W Rebuild

Hey guys,

Another post about my engine, and hopefully you all can help me out, cuz I'm in dire need.

I've talked to just about every engine guy i can think of near my hometown, and none seem to want to take on teh job of rebuilding my 351w...or they don't know any more than i do, and that isn't saying very much for either of us.

I basically want to get about 350hp from my engine, so i think i wanna put a set of GT-40P heads on the thing, but I'm not exactly sure how this will affect the rest of the engine (ie valves, cam, exhaust, etc).

Can someone PLEASE give me some ways of figuring out what parts are compatible with what?

Also, does anyone have recommendations for parts all the way through? I mean heads, valve data, intake and exhaust, cam specs, everything.

I've never done engine work like this before, and I am trying to learn as much as i can.

This site seems to have a decently priced 350hp-351w...what you guys think? Perhaps I'll just get a crate rather than have mine rebuilt

Thanks all

Contact Ford...they will be happy to point you in the right direction. They want you to buy their products. They have a ford motosport catalog as well with some basic info and prices in it.

Local dealer parts counter...Ford motosport catalog SVT parts I think it is called? I have one here just not sure where.

351W Rebuild

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Dec-02 AT 10:40 AM (EST)]Check this site out: http://www.kb-silvolite.com

Also check on some of the mustang sites as this is quite common (350hp build up), ebelbrock's performance packages will give you a good bases to start with what you may need.
Purchasing a short block may be cheaper than getting your 351w rebuilt.
The 351w and 302 share alot of the same performance parts, except some of the early engines don't share the same firing order. The 351c 351m/400 parts won't fit directly (some mods needed), you can use the 400 crank in the windsor block to make a stroker with 6.2" rods, this will bring you into the 400+hp range.

Do a good search on this site there is alot of good info. You may be reading for hours but in the end, it will be worth it.
