What do you mean it is a non cleanable IAC? What I have done in the past is just squirt some PB blaster (or any other solvent clearner/carb clearner) in the 2 wholes and let it set for 5 minutes and drain it out and wipe the residue out. This does get rid of the so called "protective anti-carbon coating" on the inside of the IAC (which maybe is what your talking about) but I havn't found that to be a big deal. If its dirty already from 8+ years of use, how you gonna make it dirtier by cleaning it? Hope you fix it. I have that same problem every once in a while on my truck. But It doesn't happen enough for me to care about fixing it.
OH!!! I like your analogy of COLD. lol Im used to temperatures around 0 during the daytime around here at this time year.
checked my codes running and not running
no codes just the self test pass
gonna try cleaning the egr tonight and mayeb make up a restrictor plate ive heared good things about these so its worth a try
There are two types of IACs used. My 95 Dealership Service Manual shows a cleanable and non-cleanable one. The non-cleanable ones you can spray carb cleaner in the air flow inlet/outlet but a complete cleaning is not possible. The cleanable one is only used on the 5.8L lightning and the 7.0L.

I had a idle prob for a while too in my 93 5.8L. First thing I tried was the IAC, but that didn't solve it. Ended up being my TPS. It was way out of tolerence but didn't give me a "check engine" light. The TPS fixed the idle and greatly improved throttle response.
Hey I have a 01 Mustang that has the same "sticky throttle problem" It's been haunting me for a while and I can't figure it out. Please help!!!
Whenever you go to shift the rpms stay put for a few seconds.

Intake manifold leaks can make it idle high due to the extra air coming through the leaks that can't be stopped by the throttle valve. I had that problem.
The rpms still stay high but I disconnected the IAC valve and the rpms drop fast when I shift. So I don't know if its the IAC valve or my computer. Should I replace the 80 $ IAC Valve or pay 80 $'s to have my car checked out and then the price of the parts?
I too now have the high idle demon. Unplugged the IAC and the idle dropped. Sprayed some Throttle Body cleaner around vacuum lines and plenum gaskets and such, and had no change in idle. But is the moral of the story that a high idle could be an IAC, or a mysterious seal leak, or a TPS, or an EGR, or an EVP? Is this the path I have to take?
