92 vs.78

My dad is trying to get me to sell my 92 F-150 with a 302 and try to find a 78 or 79. I just want to get all of your opinions on how these two stack up. I know the 78s are tough, but how tough are the 90s? Keep in mind I do a lot of wheeling, primarily in the mud. This include a lot of pulling out my buddies with chevys

well as for toughness goes, the 70's are hard to beat. the transmissions (np435, C6) are as tough as it gets. the transfer case (np205 probably) again, the best there is. plus your looking at a solid front axle as well in the 70's. so id have to go with the 70's trucks even though i love the 80's and 90's as well.

90s come with fuel injection which I like a lot better than a carb... but when I go up north with my buddies its usually the 70's ford that do the rescuing and rarely get stuck.
