Made the mistake of turning on my wipers this morning after ice caused them to freeze to the windshield.Passenger side worked fine, but drivers side stuck. After thawing, the drivers side seems to be stripped and does not move the full cycle. I was able to park the wiper where it should be when off, but as soon as I turn them on, it runs out of time and wants to tangle up with the passenger side. Any ideas appreciated.
Pop the plastic cover off where the shaft meets the wiper arm, there you'll see a nut. Tighten up this nut a little and it'll take care of your problem.
I am having the same problem, except i have already tightened the nut as far as I can. Do I need to replace the arm or is there a bushing in there that can just be replaced or worse case scenario do I have to replace the output shaft on the wiper motor???
There's no bushing. The shaft should have splines on it, pull your wiper arm and see if it still does. If it does, then your wiper arm is probably all striped out, in that case you'd just need a new wiper arm. If your arm is striped out you might be able to make a bushing out of aluminum to fit in the arm out of a beer can (be sure to drink the beer first). This might tighten things up enough again to get you by.
