Oil filter hoses?

Hi I posted this question in the expedition forum but didn't get an answer.

I was wondering if the f150 is the same as my expedition and has the oil filter behind the front bumper? and if so has anyone had to change these hoses and are they pricey.

Thanks

Yes alot of these trucks have them behind the bumper. Did you bust a line or something?

No I just noticed last service that the hoses were sweaty wet with oil so I think I want to change them. Are the hoses sold separate? or is this a unit?

thanks for the reply!

I dont know if the are sold separate. If you go to ford, they will charge you big time for them. I bet if you went somewhere that made hoses for equipment, they could make you a hose for a decent price.(Make sure you bring the hoses with you)

The 2 hoses are sold as an assembly and quite often depending on the application the catalog will ask if there is a threaded hole on the block side of the hose assembly for oil pressure switch. And yes they are expensive, but cost less than a new motor should one blow while your driving.

I've thought about replacing mine a few times but don't like what it will cost. If you have some made you still might have issues with the ends, I am guessing they are not a common size and thread. If you have it made take off the old hoses and have them matched for length and inside diameter. I'd also only go with high pressure hydraulic lines because they have plenty of strength and will not rub through or get punctured easily.

Go to an industrial hose company and have new hoses made up, they can custom make them for you with just about any fitting on the ends.
I usually go big time and use braided lines so I do not have to worry about them anymore, and they are still cheaper than OEM.

Thumbs up

Guys these are not seperate hoses such as 2 hydraulic lines, there is a flange or manifold as Ford likes to call it on the ends. To see what I mean by manifold go look at the back of your A/C compressor where the hose assembly attaches, 2 hoses attached (part of) to the manifold attached to the compressor. You might be able to improvise but I don't see it costing any less or being any better.

WALJON, if you're going to replace them you might as well them do it right.

Does anyone know what size the 97 F150 comes with. At work we have stainless steel hoses with stainless steel braiding around them in all sizes and lengths. Anyway just wondering what size it is.
