96 E350 towing package
So that works now.
I think this is a factory towing package the original owner ordered , its on the original Ford window sticker I found in the paperwork.
Supposedly it includes a 12v output to charge boat (or camper) batteries whilst driving. Where would the wiring for that be located?
Is it part of the trailer harness?
How do you tap into it?
A heavy duty towing package included a bank of 3 extra relays by the driverside headlight. These connect to a plug that is capped attached to radiator support. The "12v output" was intended for breakaway brake systems. There is also a plug on the steering column, under the dash, to add a brake controller. At rear there's a plug tied to the frame on the driver's side to use to connect the pigtail to the hitch socket. I'm not sure which year FORD adopted the standard big round black plastic 7 pin RV trailer plug/socket. My '92 had a pigtail that you plugged into the harness & connected your own socket, while my '98 had a FORD issue 7 pin RV plug on the pigtail & was plug & play.
