Parking Brake Request

Hi Campers.

Ok, getting much done on the ol' girl. However we hit a snagola.

Replaced the two rear parking brake cables when I did the drums/shoes/wheel cylinders/whole flippen thing. The cables are correct up to the "lever" unit which has (or had) an adjustment screw shaft on the pivot point. Now I did already modify things up for the pivot/adjuster so that's fine. However the front brake cable took a crap on us, we hoped to save it, but the outer sheathing in one area hosed itself.

Now we have a replacement that I need to return, as it's clearly the wrong one. Just a piece of cable with the ends, and the one on the truck has a very long sheath going from the pedel to the mount. There is no adjuster "screw thread", it just dumps out to a normal nubbed end that engages the pivot bar.

The other replacement listed looks like the right one with the sheathing, but it dumps out to an adjustment screw thread at the one end. Like it's meant to engage right into the equalizer bar (where the two rear cables are attached). And not at the pivot bar, which already has the adjuster connected to the rear equalizer via the screw adjuster.

Does any of this make sense? We are trying to track down the correct front brake cable in order for the ol' girl to pass inspection, and I am not sure if the other style cable listed would work or not? If not? Anyone know of the correct part number for this mystery front cable?

Thanks

S-

D0TZ 2853 A = all 1973's / 1974's before serial # T40,001

D4TZ 2853 D = 1974 after serial # T40,001 / all 1975's. GREEN SALES HAS 4 OF THESE, NOS.

It's very difficult to help when ppl don't list the year and model.

From the p/n's Dennis posted, I assume this is a 1975 F250.

If, so....there are two DIFFERENT parking brake systems.

With H/D brakes, the front cable is a different part number than the one posted above.

With H/D brakes are present, the equalizer bar isn't used:

In Dennis' illustration above...look just behind the cabs rear crossmember for number 2A605. Does your truck have this equalizer bar?
If the equalizer bar is NOT present, you need > >

D4TZ-2853-E .. Front Parking Brake Cable GREEN SALES HAS 2 OF THESE, NOS (new, old stock).

FTE sponsor GREEN SALES sells Ford Obsolete parts, and is located in Cincinnati, Ohio: 800-543-4959

Sorry about the lack of info. (we are in the middle of a major plumbing issues that started last night, and I forgot in my rush...)

1975 F250 RWD. 360cid. Last of the vin W69956

It's got the equalizer bar, and front disc brakes. Rear brakes are 12 1/8 x 2

Front disc brakes are single piston, not the double piston type.

Thanks again. Sorry again about the omission...we are kinda up to our knees here in more ways then one.

D4TZ-2853-D is the cable you want, and GREEN SALES has it. They are closed till Monday. 800-543-4959

I looked at your profile and saw 1975 F250, but by that time, it was to late to edit.

I don't know what's worse, plumbing problems, or going to the dentist, both are costly, and painfull.

I'll take the dentist this time. Granted we live in an apartment building...but we are on the ground floor aka....the LOWEST point. They had the kitchen drain lines power flushed due to extreme blockages (granted that line drains like wildfire now) However what ever they flushed out of that line? Seems to have blocked up the main bathroom drainage lines. I told the complex manager last night (granted it was about 11:30 PM and I woke him up).. Hopefully he can get the roto-router people out here and snake out that drain so we can resume our "Daily Routine" without reliving South Park TV's "Mr. Hankie". in the tub.

I won't go further then that...

Thanks for the information. With luck all our problems will be going down the drain with some good fortune soon LOL.
