I replaced my Revos with new Wrangler Silent Armor on just before this winter and they did a great job. I have only had "E" load tires on this truck and towed without issues.

My new '02 Excursion came with 295/75/16s on it. I see that there's been a bit of rubbing behind the front wheels but I haven't noticed any issues in the couple times I've had it on the road.
I assume these are at the upper limit for stock setup - or are they beyond it? Fortunately/Unfortunately, they (BFG All-Terrain T/As) have a lot of life left in them. Load range "D"s though I'd rather have "E"s for pulling our 31' trailer (a lightweight).
Actually - what are the load range limits for the most common D and E tires? Michelin BFG, Goodyear...
There's no universal standard for those ratings. It's a relative rating, so the higher the letter rating, the higher the load capacity relative to another tire of the same size with a lower rating.
If you go to http://www.tirerack.com , and look at the specs for a chosen tire, you can see the manufacturer's actual weight-rating.
For example, the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor 285/75-16 comes in both load-range D and load-range E. The first is rated for 3305lbs, while the second is rated for 3750lbs. But a 225/75-16 load-range E tire of the same type is only rated for 2680lbs, which is more than the load-range D version of the tire in that size, rated at 2335lbs.
